CSMLS hosts 75th Anniversary reception on Parliament Hill

On Thursday, November 6, CSMLS hosted a wine and cheese reception at the Parliament buildings in Ottawa. The evening was a celebration of CSMLS’s 75th anniversary and the contributions to the Canadian health care system for all those years.   More than 30 Members of Parliament attended the reception where they met with CSMLS staff and volunteers in a relaxed and social environment.

Some attendees included the Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Health and Member of Parliament for Oshawa Dr. Colin Carrie, Liberal Health Critic Dr. Hedy Fry, NDP Associate Health Critic Dr. Djaouida Sellah, Critic for Aboriginal Affairs & Northern Development Dr. Carolyn Bennett and Liberal Human Resources Critic Rodger Cuzner.

To round out the celebrations, a ceremonial plaque was also presented by David Christopherson, NDP Member of Parliament for Hamilton Centre, congratulating the CSMLS on a successful 75 years!

Indigenous Land Acknowledgement : We respectfully acknowledge the CSMLS office, located in Hamilton, Ontario, is situated upon the traditional territories of the Haudenosaunee Confederacy, the Mississauga Nation, Anishinaabe Peoples, and the Neutral Peoples. This land is covered by the Dish With One Spoon wampum, which is a treaty between the Haudenosaunee and Anishinaabe to share and care for the resources around the Great Lakes. We further acknowledge that this land is covered by the Between the Lakes Treaty No. 3, 1792, between the Crown and the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation.
