Membership Reinstatement Procedure

A former certified member who has resigned or has been suspended for non-payment of membership fees must make formal application to be reinstated. The documentation and member file is reviewed to determine the applicant's eligibility for reinstatement into the category requested in accordance with article 3.0 of the bylaws.
.

CERTIFIED ACTIVE MEMBERSHIP

Reinstatement as a certified active member requires that the applicant be working in a situation which requires application of knowledge of medical laboratory technology. Full-time or part-time work qualifies.

Professional liability insurance is mandatory for active and affiliate members, except where the member has coverage under a program offered by a provincial society or regulatory body.

CERTIFIED INACTIVE MEMBERSHIP

Applicants who are not working or who are working in a situation that does not require application of their knowledge of medical laboratory technology are reinstated as certified inactive members.

FEES

Applicants must pay the current fee for the membership category requested, plus a reinstatement fee of $75.00. Fees for the year are not prorated and there is no entitlement to retroactive services.

Applications for reinstatement which are received after October 1st can be held until mid-November so that they can be processed for the following year. Applicants who wish to wait until the following year for reinstatement should specify this when they submit their documents.
