Yeasts And Actinomycetes
Yeasts And Actinomycetes (4655-08)
The main Candida species and Cryptococcus including Geotrichum and Trichosporon are the integral part of this new course. This course will also cover other less frequently seen organisms such as Prototheca, Sporobolomyces, Malassezia, etc. Filamentous organisms such as nocardia, streptomyces, actinomadura and atypical mycobacteria will be covered. Differentiation of aerobic actinomycetes from atypical mycobacteria will be the key area to educate technologists using minimum tests to reach genus level identification and to be able to report results to the clinician in timely fashion pending confirmation from the reference lab.
